Position Overview:
The Practical Nurse (LPN) operates under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or designated healthcare professional, engaging in patient care activities in accordance with established Scope of Practice.
- Delivers fundamental nursing care to patients by adhering to recognized standards and protocols.
- May execute specific nursing duties pertinent to the specialty area.
- Gathers patient information, including vital signs, observes patient behavior, and communicates findings appropriately.
- Prepares and administers injections, conducts routine assessments, manages wound care, and changes dressings.
- Maintains patient records utilizing established medical documentation practices.
- Administers medications within the scope of licensure, monitoring and documenting patient progress and responses.
- Contributes to the planning and assessment of patient care in alignment with practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Communicates health information to patients and families regarding health status and management of conditions.
- Engages in collaborative efforts to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
- Handles medication administration, IV therapy, blood draws, and laboratory testing.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
- Current and valid LPN/LVN license from the state licensing authority.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Additional specialty certifications may be required.
- IV certification may be necessary.
Preferred:
- One year of experience in a clinical or acute care nursing environment.
- One year of experience in a specialty clinic setting.
Essential Skills:
- Consistent attendance and punctuality during scheduled shifts.
- Understanding of basic nursing processes and healthcare technology.
- Effective communication skills with both staff and patients.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and remain composed in emergency situations.
- Exhibit a caring and positive attitude towards patients.
- Strong work ethic and professionalism.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to see and interpret information, assess patient needs, operate medical equipment, and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. Frequent manual dexterity is necessary for handling delicate equipment. Expected to lift and move patients and supplies, which may include heavy items. May require standing for extended periods and navigating busy environments.
