Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing respiratory care to patients, preparing and operating respiratory care equipment, and ensuring accurate and complete physician prescriptions.

• Provides respiratory therapy as prescribed by a physician, including preparing and operating respiratory care equipment.
• Ensures accurate and complete physician prescriptions, comparing prescription requests with medical record order forms and clarifying any discrepancies with the physician.
• Provides patient and significant other education on respiratory care, including vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements.
• Administers oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators, monitors oxygen-supported ambulation, and performs chest physical therapy.
• Documents all activities and patient outcomes/responses per policy and procedure.
• Maintains mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, testing for functioning of monitors, oxygen blenders, alarms, and leaks.
• Reports major equipment problems to management and performs related duties as required.

• Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State, and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
