Software Engineer II

Grainger Businesses is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Site Reliability Engineering team. Key Responsibilities:
Improve observability across the entire ecosystem, administer observability tools, and ensure system stability. Define and implement modern incident management processes, drive technical initiatives to improve automation and self-healing, and help mentor and develop junior team members. Grow and evangelize the capabilities of Datadog and other observability tools within Grainger.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent work experience. 3-5+ years of experience with an APM tool, such as Datadog, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or Honeycomb. Demonstrated experience within the observability domain, including traces, metrics, and logs. 3-5+ years of experience with Swift iOS, Objective-c, JavaScript, Realm, Firebase, unit testing, and UI testing. Ability to define strategies, patterns, and solutions to improve system reliability. Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems and conducting blameless postmortems. Experience with cloud native technologies, such as containers, Kubernetes, Istio, and EKS. Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems. Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and proficient in using GitHub. Experience working with microservices.
