Position Summary
The Field Research Associate will be instrumental in assisting with research trials and initiatives during the blueberry season at Beeflow. Key responsibilities encompass facilitating pollination service delivery, engaging in research trials, ensuring precise data collection and documentation, and aiding in project logistics. This part-time seasonal position is designed to last for several weeks and will report directly to the Operations Manager.
Core Responsibilities
- Implement pollination services for agricultural producers
- Participate in ongoing research and development trials
- Accurately document and maintain data sheets and field observations
- Efficiently manage daily tasks across various fields
- Assist with crop tagging processes
- Provide constructive feedback for project improvements
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Entomology, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Biology, or related disciplines is preferred
- Proven experience in field research
- A strong interest in pollination and agricultural practices
- Possession of a valid driver's license and readiness to drive for extended periods
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Google Suite
- Comfortable working independently in field settings and detail-oriented tasks
- Fluency in Spanish and English is a plus
- Located in proximity to Bakersfield, CA
Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Comfortable working with bees while utilizing appropriate protective equipment
- Adaptability to outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Capability to manage bee interactions and stings
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: Target of $23 per hour
