Key Responsibilities

The Patient Safety Manager (PSM) will be responsible for coordinating and executing patient safety policies established by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS). The PSM serves as the primary resource for developing and implementing patient safety systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards within Veterans Health Administration facilities.

Key duties include:
  • Leading initiatives to promote a culture of safety among healthcare staff and patients.
  • Providing direct support for the establishment and maintenance of the patient safety process at the facility level.
  • Utilizing patient safety culture survey data to enhance safety practices.
  • Training healthcare personnel on patient safety protocols and analysis processes.
  • Facilitating communication between the facility and relevant networks to ensure the dissemination of vital patient safety information.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a current, unrestricted nursing license and demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English. A graduate degree in nursing or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience in patient safety or healthcare management.
