We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at Veolia Environnement SA. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of our wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine testing and monitoring of water quality, recording results and maintaining accurate and timely entries in the plant logbook.
- Monitor and maintain calibration of plant instrumentation and online analyzers, ensuring compliance with permitting agencies and manufacturer specifications.
- Evaluate data and information to identify abnormal conditions, notify the Chief Plant Operator, and make necessary adjustments to ensure treatment processes operate within regulatory requirements.
- Conduct inspections of pump stations and collection systems, file required regulatory documents, and maintain property in good order, including housekeeping and grounds upkeep.
- Ensure all equipment is in proper and safe working order, conduct corrective and preventive maintenance, and repair equipment as needed.
- Analyze and evaluate processes and procedures, initiate or recommend new or improved practices, and write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare reports and documents related to work activities, ensure work is completed according to standard utility practices and procedures, and maintain records on work activities, inventories, and orders.
- Interface with state regulatory agencies and client contacts, investigate and respond to customer complaints or inquiries, and develop solutions to eliminate continuing problems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; approximately 3 years of industry experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical and maintenance background with pumps, with ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Good communication skills, written and oral, with computer skills in Microsoft Office.
- NC Grade 2 Biological Wastewater Operator Certification or higher, Surface Irrigation Water Pollution Control Certification, and NC Grade 1 Collection System Certification or higher required.
While performing the duties of this job, the candidate is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with limited exposure to higher noise levels within OSHA standards.
Physical RequirementsThe candidate is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The candidate may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to distinguish color, close vision, and distance vision.
