As an EMG Technician at Upstate University Hospital, you will be responsible for performing Nerve Conduction Studies in an EMG lab according to the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) and the Clinical Neurophysiology Lab standards. Your primary goal will be to provide high-quality neurodiagnostic testing while ensuring patient safety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing Nerve Conduction Studies on various nerves, including the median, ulnar, radial, peroneal, tibial, and sural nerves.
- Applying the appropriate stimulus and recording responses.
- Interpreting waveforms and adjusting parameters to obtain comprehensive results.
- Collecting and recording data and reporting preliminary findings to attending physicians.
You will work collaboratively with other technicians, residents, and fellows to achieve common goals. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of an END/Neurodiagnostic Technologist program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or completion of at least 12 months of full-time (or equivalent), practical, on-the-job training in nerve conduction studies (NCSs) under the direct supervision of a neurologist or physiatrist experienced in electrodiagnostic medicine.
Additionally, you must have experienced a minimum of 250 patient encounters where NCSs were performed on separate occasions. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.
We will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
An Associates Degree in an allied health profession is preferred.
