Job Summary

The Student Tutor will provide academic support to students who are struggling in their courses. This role involves working with students who are failing or performing poorly in a course, providing individual or group instruction to help them improve their performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support to students who are struggling in their courses
  • Meet with students on an as-needed basis to provide individual or group instruction
  • Regularly communicate with the Coordinator of Student Tutoring to report on student progress and provide feedback
  • Submit weekly time sheets to the Administrative Assistant to Pre-Clinical Education
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Provost and/or her designee
Requirements
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate the motor skills required of all LECOM medical school students
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM
  • Must be able to be flexible and accept other duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Education and experience equivalent to a current LECOM student with a LECOM grade point average of 3.0 or higher and completion of at least the first semester of medical education at LECOM
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations
