TRADITIONS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary treatment staff, you will be responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients with complex medical and psychiatric problems.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric medicine, with the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people. You will be responsible for providing diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric inpatients, as well as preparing psychiatric-legal evaluations and reports.
Key Responsibilities:- Function as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment staff with ultimate medical-legal responsibility for the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Evaluate patients for physical health problems and consult with and refer to primary care physicians as indicated.
- Prescribe medication and care as determined.
- Refers patients to physicians, psychologists, chemical dependency counselors, mental health centers, social services, and other professionals and agencies as needed by the patient.
- Works with other members of a unit treatment team to develop a treatment program, including rules and therapeutic activities for patients assigned to the team.
- Completes documentation, drafts reports, develops treatment plans, conducts evaluations as required by Hospital policies and state and federal regulations and standards.
- A Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree and completion of an appropriate residency program approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Montana or will obtain license to practice medicine in the State of Montana within twelve months of starting the position.
