Key Responsibilities

The Pre-Registration Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for patients, embodying the highest standards of customer service and empathy on behalf of Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

This role encompasses all aspects of patient entry into OHH facilities, including registration and financial clearance, processing payments over the phone, assisting with payment plan arrangements, and providing information on financial assistance.

It is crucial for this position to ensure that accurate patient information is collected and entered into the patient record.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail and maintain a thorough understanding of insurance providers, Medicare regulations, as well as federal, state, and accreditation standards.


Responsibilities include:
1. Conducting pre-registration and insurance verification within 24 hours of notification for both inpatient and outpatient services.
2. Adhering to scripted benefits verification protocols.
3. Communicating with physicians to address issues related to prior authorization or referral documentation.
4. Accurately assigning insurance plans.
5. Performing electronic eligibility checks, when applicable, and documenting outcomes.
6. Investigating patient visit history to ensure compliance with specific payment window rules.
7. Completing Medicare secondary payer questionnaires, as necessary.
8. Calculating patient cost shares and preparing to collect payments via phone or establish payment arrangements.

Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of clerical experience preferred, ideally in a healthcare environment. Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans is advantageous.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Windows-based operating systems is preferred.

Professional Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Technical/Motor Skills:
Ability to operate a CRT, typing at 45 wpm, and proficient in 10-key operations required.
