The City of Lakeland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard I to join our Aquatics team. As a Lifeguard I, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our pool patrons, while also providing exceptional customer service and promoting a positive aquatic experience.

• Provide lifeguarding services at our aquatic facilities, including pool monitoring, rescue operations, and first aid response.
• Teach swimming lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels, using established curriculum and instructional methods.
• Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of our aquatic facilities, including cleaning, equipment maintenance, and reporting any necessary repairs.
• Collaborate with Aquatics Supervisory Staff to develop and implement programs and events that promote a positive aquatic experience.
• Provide exceptional customer service to pool patrons, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry best practices and regulations.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguarding (CPR/First Aid/AED) certification.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
• Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Previous experience as a lifeguard or in a related aquatic role.
• Experience teaching swimming lessons or working with children.
• Knowledge of aquatic safety protocols and emergency procedures.
