Position Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing and managing a variety of ocular diseases while assisting in the treatment of related systemic health issues, including diabetes and hypertension.
- Administering corrective lens prescriptions, including contact lenses, and utilizing vision therapy and medications as necessary.
- Conducting minor surgical interventions such as foreign body removal and suture extractions.
- Performing ocular assessments, including tonometry and visual field evaluations.
- Identifying when referrals to other specialists, such as ophthalmologists, are necessary and adhering to established protocols for external consultations.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. Education: A Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE-accredited program is required.
2. Licensure: A current, unrestricted license to practice optometry in the relevant jurisdiction, along with a passing score on the NBEO examinations.
3. Certification: Current CPR certification from an accredited organization.
Work Schedule:
The role typically requires a minimum of 20 patient interactions during each 8-hour workday.
