We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a Patient Care Associate, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with direct patient care needs, including activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility.
- Contribute to a safe and compassionate patient care environment by fostering a healing environment and promoting respect and kindness for all individuals.
- Assist with patient data and specimen collection, including vital signs, pulse oximetry, and non-invasive blood pressure.
- Support a Culture of Safety by completing hourly patient care rounds, anticipating patient needs, and maintaining patient and family privacy and confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patient and environment for safety concerns and immediately report changes to the RN or licensed nurse.
- Maintain a safe and clean patient care environment, adhering to infection prevention practices and following equipment management protocols.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the literacy exam with a score of 80% or better (PCA Training Program candidates only).
- CPR training required.
- Knowledge of English language sufficient to read, speak, and write accurately.
- Knowledge of simple arithmetic.
- Ability to lift and transport patients using the appropriate physical technique in a safe manner for the patient and self, according to Safe Patient Handling Guidelines.
- Ability to master basic computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
- Six months experience as a Nursing Assistant or is a Nursing Student currently enrolled in a formal program who has successfully completed at least one clinical rotation or is currently enrolled in, and successfully completes, the NWH Patient Care Associate Training Program.
This is a 36 hour night shift position. The Patient Care Associate will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities is essential.
