As a PCU/Stepdown RN, you will provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients who are stable enough to leave the intensive care unit. Your expertise will be essential in monitoring patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall condition, promptly identifying and addressing any changes in status.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU or Stepdown Unit.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall condition.
- Administer medications, including IV drips and infusions, as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform complex nursing procedures.
- Assist with the transition of patients from the ICU to the PCU/Stepdown unit.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Perform regular assessments and document patient information accurately.
Requirements:
- Current RN state license in good standing.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Stepdown Unit, or related critical care nursing field.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing practices, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
