Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Intermountain Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting pharmacists in the execution of pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in all phases of pharmacy services, including medication preparation, dispensing, and inventory management.
  • Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare and deliver medications for dispensing, utilizing pharmacy technology to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Accurately fill and maintain medication supplies in the automatic dispensing system, verifying and monitoring controlled substance inventories as required.
  • Compound medications in accordance with state law and policy, performing calculations as necessary for accurate compounding.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by regulation and policy, ensuring pharmacy cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Assist pharmacists in collecting clinical and other patient information as required, effectively managing pharmacy inventory to ensure security, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and 340B/Charging management.
  • Escalate items to the pharmacist for review as appropriate based on urgency, regulations, and scope.
  • Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, identifying potential areas for improvement and contributing to departmental meetings.
Requirements
  • High School or equivalent required; Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or EXcPT or other certifying board and successful registration/certification/licensure with the state of practice as a Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
  • Associates or bachelors degree desirable; Technician training preferred.
  • BLS required; Two (2) years working as a certified pharmacy tech in a hospital or infusion pharmacy setting preferred.
Work Environment

This position is located at St. Marys Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
