Job Summary:
The Medical Waste Route Driver is responsible for servicing assigned accounts in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. This role requires a high level of customer service and attention to detail, as well as the ability to manage routes and transport waste in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned routes to ensure customers' waste is picked up in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
- Transport waste from Stericycle locations or customer sites to transfer or processing locations.
- Prepare and load trucks to service select accounts for the day, ensuring enough supplies are added.
- Unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites, securing waste as necessary.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily, communicating any issues to the Transportation Manager or Dispatcher for resolution.
- Ensure waste, supplies, and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating the vehicle on a public highway.
- Complete assigned paperwork legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely, and return it to the Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing.
- Communicate with Stericycle Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any changes to route pickups, including address changes or customer not having waste ready for pickup.
Requirements:
- 6+ months of experience in driving shred/box trucks and route management.
- Valid standard driver's license (Class D or above) with an excellent driving record.
- Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card (MED).
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records as required by federal regulation.
