Veterinary Care Specialist

At Altasciences, we are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Veterinarian to join our team. As a key member of our animal health care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our animal subjects.
The Clinical Veterinarian will participate in the collection of samples, tissue, and raw data; prepare test articles for administration, and perform surgery and other medical procedures. You will also supervise and participate in the diagnosis and treatment of sick animals, and oversee quarantine and animal acquisition procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and participating in the diagnosis of sick animals and supervising and participating in the treatment of sick animals.
- Ensuring that all necessary supplies and materials for current procedures are available and that sterility in the surgical quarters is maintained.
- Conducting surgical and other medical procedures and treatments.
- Participating in the training of technicians.
- Supervising and participating in the performance of routine herd health surveillance laboratory tests, such as fecal examination, blood collection, necropsy, and tissue collection.
Requirements include:
- DVM required, Active Veterinary License in at least 1 US State.
- Must acquire Missouri State License in Veterinary Medicine within 1 year of job start.
- Experience with FDA GLP, not required but preferred.
- Graduates of Non-AVMA accredited veterinary schools must have educational commission for foreign veterinary graduates (ECFVG) certification.
- Basic computer skills sufficient to perform the daily duties of the role.
