Job Overview

The Capital District YMCA is seeking enthusiastic individuals to fill seasonal roles at our indoor ice skating facility. Under the supervision of the Ice Rink Director/Arena Coordinator, these positions will contribute to the management and instruction of various programs for both youth and adults, prioritizing the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

AVAILABLE SEASONAL POSITIONS

  • Ice Rink Instructor – Multiple openings available. Flexible scheduling including days, nights, weekdays, and weekends.
  • Zamboni Driver – Multiple openings available. Evening and weekend shifts.
  • Ice Rink Assistant – Multiple openings available. Flexible scheduling including days, nights, weekdays, and weekends.
  • Ice Rink Guard – Multiple openings available. Flexible scheduling including days, nights, weekdays, and weekends.

ICE RINK GUARD - $15.00 PER HOUR - ENSURES SAFETY DURING PUBLIC SKATING HOURS

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Please upload to your profile.
  • Minimum age of 16 years. (For minors: Current NYS Working Papers are mandatory)
  • Proficient skating skills are essential.
  • Ability to enforce ice rink regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with effective organizational and communication abilities.

ICE RINK ASSISTANT - $ - SUPPORTS INSTRUCTION AND ENSURES PARTICIPANT SAFETY

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Please upload to your profile.
  • Minimum age of 16 years (For minors: Current NYS Working Papers are mandatory)
  • Proficient in ice skating, including the ability to skate forward, backward, and stop effectively.
  • Ability to enforce ice rink regulations.
  • Previous experience in organized sports or recreation is preferred, ideally in a supervisory capacity.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are advantageous.

ZAMBONI DRIVER - $ - RESPONSIBLE FOR ICE RINK MAINTENANCE INCLUDING ICE PREPARATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in ice rink operations is necessary.
  • Valid US Driver's License is required.
  • Proven ability to operate a Zamboni machine.
  • Background in construction or maintenance is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with effective organizational and communication abilities.

ICE RINK INSTRUCTOR - $ - LEADS LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH AND FAMILIES

  • Proficient skating skills are essential.
  • Must demonstrate reliability and responsibility.
  • Ability to enforce ice rink regulations.
  • Relevant professional certifications are required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to effectively demonstrate the skills being taught to participants.
  • Familiarity with USFSA Learn to Skate or USA Hockey Learn to Skate Program is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively teach and engage with children, including the capacity to lead and motivate.
