Job Summary

As a valued member of the CHRISTUS Health team, the Obstetric Assistant plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our obstetrical team. This dynamic individual will assist in the care of obstetrical patients, perform delegated tasks, and provide basic nursing care to ensure a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist obstetrical staff in providing patient care and support during operative procedures.
  • Perform delegated tasks to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Provide basic nursing care to patients, including vital sign monitoring and documentation.
  • Support surgeons and other medical staff during operative procedures.
  • Collaborate with the obstetrical team to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: BLS certification required.
  • Skills: Completion of competency-based skills checklist.
  • Experience: One year Nursing Assistant experience preferred and/or completion of Nursing Assistant course within one year. Two years hospital experience preferred.
Work Environment

The Obstetric Assistant will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff. This role requires the ability to work irregular hours, handle multiple simultaneous activities, and exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays.

Physical Demands

The Obstetric Assistant must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations, stand for prolonged periods, and lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients or equipment. Good body mechanics and manual dexterity are essential for this role.
