Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at West Contra Costa USD - Richmond. The successful candidate will provide on-going remedial services to pupils with communicative disorders, including language, speech, and hearing handicaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose language, speech, and hearing problems of referred students.
  • Conduct Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings at least annually for all enrolled students.
  • Develop materials and plans and conduct remediation for language, speech, and hearing handicapped students who are enrolled.
  • Maintain records and reports for all students in the program.
  • Serve as a team member in diagnostic assessment, evaluation, and placement of children with communicative disorders.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, psychologists, and other personnel regarding students with language, speech, and hearing problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Certificated by the State of California or under waiver for certification in Speech, Language and Hearing.
  • Possession of a University degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with assessment procedures and tools in the field of Speech Pathology.
  • Familiarity with therapy techniques and materials in the field of Speech Pathology.
  • Knowledge of the California Education Code.
  • Knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other applicable federal laws.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in English.
