USPI Memorial Hermann Bay Area Endoscopy Center

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Pre/Post Op, Circulator RN. This is a PRN position, and we are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, with some early mornings and later evenings required.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the pre-operative and post-operative settings, as well as circulating in the operating room. This includes assessing patients' health status, ensuring accurate identification wristbands, and initiating IVs. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring patients' conditions, reporting any changes to the doctor, and providing education to patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' health status in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband
  • Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
  • Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
  • Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff
  • Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performed
  • Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
  • Log all findings in patients' files
  • Answer patients' questions and ensure that they are kept comfortable
  • Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
  • Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
  • Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
  • Assist with equipment
  • Serve as a patient advocate and ensure patient safety at all times
  • Assist with positioning the patient
  • Monitor the patient's condition throughout the entire surgical process and act quickly to respond to any changes
  • Maintain the sterile field at all times
Requirements
  • Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must have a current unrestricted RN license in the state
  • Minimum 2-year experience in a hospital setting or ASC setting
  • Current American Heart BLS certification
