We are seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at Amergis. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to students in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate student care needs
- Demonstrate skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders and Individualized Health Plans (IHP)
- Perform interventions, treatments, and medications administration according to identified priorities
- Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications
- Complete documentation per client expectations
- Coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources
- Communicate with school district personnel about student plans of care and IHP
- Notify District School Nurse, Amergis Supervisor, parent, and physician as outlined in the IHP regarding changes in student condition, physician notification, and other necessary actions
- Evaluate and assure student safety at all times
- Adhere to Amergis Healthcare and school district policies
- Maintain accuracy in student health records
- Support professional practice by observing the Nurse Practice Act, Standards of Nursing Practice, Standards of Patient Care, and other relevant standards
- Graduate of an accredited registered, practical, or vocational nursing program
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical, Licensed Vocational, or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
- One year of professional experience, preferred
- Complies with accepted professional standards and practice
- Willingness to participate in skill advancement, if applicable
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program
- Current CPR certification
- PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
