Position Overview

Williams Kastner, a distinguished trial law firm in the Pacific Northwest, is in search of attorney candidates who possess expertise in various civil litigation domains. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Asbestos and Toxic Tort Defense
  • Land Use Law
  • Transportation and Trucking Defense
  • Insurance Coverage Matters

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions of this role encompass:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and modifying legal documents.
  • Providing legal counsel to clients regarding their rights.
  • Formulating and executing strategies for case defense and litigation.
  • Collecting evidence to support legal actions or defenses.
  • Conducting thorough research and interviewing clients and witnesses.
  • Preparing legal briefs and developing arguments for case presentation.
  • Representing clients in court and before administrative agencies.
  • Interpreting laws and regulations for clients.
  • Collaborating with colleagues specializing in relevant legal areas.
  • Maintaining communication with experts for opinions and reports.
  • Preparing responses to discovery requests and managing depositions.

This role requires the ability to travel and attend depositions, court hearings, mediations, and trials, whether virtually or in person. Candidates should be prepared for extensive phone or video conferencing and managing complex documents under tight deadlines.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $175,000, contingent upon various factors including relevant experience and skill level. Benefits offered include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, 401K, paid time off, and holiday pay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess a law degree and have a minimum of 4-6 years of legal practice experience. A valid license to practice law in Washington state is required, with additional licenses in Oregon and/or Alaska being advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to analyze and convey complex legal information.
  • A commitment to billing at least 1800 hours annually.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational capabilities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position allows for partial remote work based on client needs, but candidates must be available in the office at least three days per week. The office environment is standard, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or other disruptions.

Candidates should be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time and frequently operate office machinery. The role typically involves a 40+ hour work week, requiring flexibility to meet client demands and attend necessary meetings, court appearances, and depositions. Occasional lifting of files or boxes up to 20 pounds may be required.
