Job Summary:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in our Sinai Internal Float Pool, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist RNs with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
- Measure and document patient data, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and intake/output.
- Perform purposeful rounding and promptly communicate patient observations and concerns to RNs.
- Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including room setup and patient orientation.
- Collect and process patient specimens, and perform point-of-care testing as needed.
- Maintain patient call lights and respond promptly to patient requests.
- Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling with assistive devices.
- Support nutritional needs of patients, including diet review and tray setup/removal.
- Ensure special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained.
Requirements:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days.
- Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.
- Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
Working Conditions:
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. You will also be required to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
