As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality diagnostic images that aid physicians in diagnosing disease processes and pathology. Under indirect supervision, you will utilize MRI equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the human anatomy and vasculature, performing basic and advanced protocols to maximize image quality.
Key Responsibilities- Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Observe and adhere to regional, medical center, and department policies and procedures.
- Assess patient data and interpret relevant information to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
- Document clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and work areas in accordance with department guidelines.
- Interview patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain patient history, and conduct imaging screens.
- Position patients as required for requested exams or use variations to ensure proper positioning of the patient to the magnet isocenter.
- Select appropriate coils for requested exams and position them to demonstrate the area of interest and obtain maximum transmit and receive signal.
- Obtain optimal MR imaging throughout the entire region of interest by selecting and applying imaging parameters.
- Recognize the need for additional sequences, changes in protocols, and the need for paramagnetic contrast studies based on patient pathology, physical condition, or image quality problems.
- Two years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care medical center, or six months of clinical experience as an MRI Technologist in an acute care medical center.
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program in radiological technology and an on-the-job or formal training program in cross-sectional anatomy and MRI.
- Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) and Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
