Position Summary:
PAY RATE: $0.25 shift premium
Shift: 11am - 8:30pm
The Culinary Training Specialist will be responsible for:
- Instructing new hires on essential tasks, techniques, and software utilized in both Raw and Ready-to-Eat (RTE) kitchen environments. Reviewing job descriptions and safety protocols pertinent to kitchen roles. Reporting daily progress to supervisors as necessary.
- Overseeing kitchen department workflows to ensure efficient operations and meet daily objectives. Filling in for temporary absences in the Raw and RTE kitchen as needed.
- Conducting orientation tours for new employees and facilitating ongoing training in areas such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety, and quality assurance.
- Preparing for daily operations by obtaining work schedules and necessary paperwork. Assisting supervisors with shift preparations.
- Coordinating daily inventories of raw materials, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles, and reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.
- Troubleshooting kitchen-related issues, performing minor repairs, and collaborating with maintenance staff for larger repairs. Communicating mechanical issues and maintenance recommendations to supervisors.
- Assisting in the completion of Critical Control Point (CCP) documentation, traceability, and batch records.
- Reporting to designated workstations, gathering tools, and verifying equipment and recipes as required.
- Participating in daily meetings to assist in decision-making regarding production fill requests.
- Securing all equipment, performing general housekeeping, and completing required documentation at the end of each shift.
- Carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate and learn to use necessary equipment and tools, including climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to safety and promoting safe work habits among colleagues.
- Capability to understand and execute tasks to departmental standards.
- Proficiency in reading instructions and communicating effectively in English; bilingual skills in English/Spanish are preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and a strong understanding of SAP is advantageous.
- Ability to comprehend and adhere to all written Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Willingness to work scheduled hours and required overtime.
- Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Basic mathematical skills and relevant departmental experience are preferred.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
