Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist - Medicine/Respirology

At North York General Hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care and are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team in the Medicine/Respirology Unit.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and is committed to excellence. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized respiratory care plans for patients.
  • Conduct respiratory assessments and provide education to patients and families on respiratory care and disease management.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless transitions of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide ventilation management, weaning, and discontinuation services as needed.
  • Perform airway management, including intubations and tracheostomy tube insertions.
  • Administer pharmaceutical substances in respiratory care.
  • Perform related diagnostic tests, including arterial blood gas analysis and bronchoscopies.
  • Supervise, teach, and evaluate students as assigned by the clinical coordinator.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest respiratory care practices and technologies.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current NRP certification.
  • Experience in adult intubation and adult radial arterial line insertion.
  • Membership with C.S.R.T. and R.T.S.O. preferred.
  • Experience in neonatal intubation preferred.
