Job Summary

Davidson Academy seeks a qualified Substitute Teacher to provide instruction and maintain classroom management in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The ideal candidate will uphold the school's Christian values and educational standards while ensuring a productive and positive learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instructional content, assignments, and activities as outlined in the lesson plans, adapting as necessary to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Maintain classroom discipline by upholding the school's code of conduct and implementing effective classroom management strategies.
  • Foster a nurturing and Christ-centered learning environment that encourages student participation and spiritual growth.
  • Supervise students during class time, transitions, and assigned duties (e.g., recess, lunch monitoring).
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and any relevant observations or incidents during the day.
  • Protect the safety and well-being of students at all times, following school procedures and protocols.
  • Treat all students with respect, fairness, and in a manner consistent with Christian principles.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and classroom matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education or a related field (preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification or license (preferred, but not always required for substitute positions).
  • Experience working with children or in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with Christian values and a commitment to upholding the school's religious principles.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, parents, and staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle various grade levels and subject areas.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to support student learning and growth.

  • Successful completion of background checks and any required training or certifications.
  • Adherence to the school's policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Availability to work on short notice and for varying lengths of assignments.
