Position Overview: The Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health is on the lookout for dedicated Clinical Physician Scientists to engage in translational research concerning chronic liver conditions. These professionals possess comprehensive clinical expertise in health and disease, paired with a strong foundation in scientific research methodologies, making them vital to the Institute's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate clinically pertinent inquiries within a health research context to foster research that bridges basic and clinical sciences.
- Convert clinical insights into researchable hypotheses and apply research outcomes to advance medical practices.
- Ensure high standards in medical education by teaching students the integration of science into patient care and research.
- Provide specialized insights to guide the progression of fields such as genetic medicine, pharmacogenetics, and bioinformatics.
Teaching Duties: Deliver educational instruction to medical students, residents, and fellows, focusing on both clinical and research capacities.
Research Focus: Drive the discovery of biomedical innovations, develop life-saving treatments, and establish disease prevention strategies that can be rapidly implemented in clinical settings. Responsibilities include securing grant funding, authoring scientific publications, and collaborating with fellow researchers.
Clinical Responsibilities: Offer clinical services within Hepatology clinics and engage in the inpatient management of patients with liver-related health issues.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must hold Board Certification or be Board Eligible in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
- Experience in Basic Science and/or Clinical Research is essential, along with a commitment to pursuing a Physician Scientist career path.
- Proven ability to cultivate a diverse academic environment or a commitment to fostering such an environment as a faculty member.
