**JOB PURPOSE:**
The Senior Veterinary Laboratory Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, conducting essential analyses and tests to identify various animal health issues. This position involves supervising laboratory personnel, providing training, and assessing performance while contributing to the formulation of operational policies and procedures.
**WORK SCHEDULE:** 1am - 9am, Tuesday - Saturday with one day off.
**COMPENSATION:** $29.95 per hour, with additional overnight shift differentials.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
To excel in this role, candidates must effectively perform the following essential functions:
- Supervise laboratory staff, monitor their activities, and evaluate their performance while offering guidance and training.
- Lead the laboratory's daily operations, ensuring adequate staffing and resources while maintaining workflow efficiency.
- Contribute to the upkeep of diagnostic equipment and technical resources.
- Conduct routine testing, including the reading of various blood slides at specified rates.
- Manage rechecks and verifications within the department.
- Perform random audits and evaluations of laboratory slides.
- Address pending lists and report quality assurance issues to the Supervisor.
- Ensure that monthly audits are conducted and documented.
- Maintain the organization of laboratory storage and equipment.
- Fulfill the duties of the supervisor in their absence.
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a science-related field is required.
**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:**
- Strong training and mentoring capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and direct work activities effectively.
- Proficiency in laboratory testing and equipment troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as applicable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
