Job Summary

Dodge City Community College is seeking a qualified History Instructor to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of classes, engaging in learning support and instructional practices, and mentoring students to achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of classes, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery modes.
  • Develop and implement assessment measures to achieve course, program, and college learning outcomes.
  • Mentor students to provide a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Social Sciences Division and participate in college committees.
  • Develop and implement new courses to curriculum in various delivery modalities.
  • Organize and maintain student records and submit reports as required.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning and assist with the development of the term class schedule and college catalog.
Requirements
  • Masters History or a related area with 18 graduate hours in History.
  • Thorough knowledge of content area and fluency in English language.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to convey ideas to others in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Critical analytical and evaluative skills, organizational skills, and ability to create and maintain a schedule.
  • Literacy in modes of delivery and ability to think, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to effectively maintain teaching schedules, organize time, and execute duties in the delivery and support of high-quality instruction.
  • Computer skills and ability to use technology in the classroom.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience with underprepared/under-resourced students and a valid Kansas driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Content emphases in American and World History.
  • Qualifications to teach additional academic disciplines.
  • Experience teaching at the college level and commitment to student learning/success.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) and ability to develop and implement new courses to curriculum in various delivery modalities.
