Position Overview

Role Summary

The individual in this position is accountable for the effective planning and administration of radiation therapy to patients, utilizing ionizing radiation as per the directives of Radiation Oncologists, and under the direct oversight of the Chief Therapist.

Key Responsibilities

- Administers radiation therapy to patients, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

- Monitors equipment parameters, records any malfunctions, and is well-versed in emergency and safety protocols for all devices.

- Maintains precise medical documentation and treatment schedules.

- Inputs treatment and simulation billing information into the Aria system.

- Keeps detailed records of patient treatment.

- Understands emergency and fault protocols for linear accelerators and simulators.

- Identifies and communicates patient concerns and physical issues to the appropriate staff.

- Provides clear instructions and procedural information to patients and their families.

- Ensures the clinic is organized and clean.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, stoop, bend, push, and pull. The candidate must be capable of lifting and supporting up to 35 pounds while handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required, along with intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity, critical thinking skills, and the ability to concentrate are essential. The individual must be able to respond swiftly and make decisions based on changes in the unit.

Qualifications

The candidate must be a graduate of an AMA accredited Therapeutic Radiology program or an equivalent international institution. Registration with ARRT is required or eligibility for registration, with the expectation to pass the registry within the first 90 days of employment. BLS certification is mandatory as per policy guidelines.
