Job Summary

Tucson Medical Center is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in the Core Lab department. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and Analyze Specimens: Receive, process, and analyze patient specimens to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Perform Laboratory Tests: Conduct various laboratory tests and procedures to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Maintain Quality Control: Perform, record, and evaluate quality control results, and implement corrective action as necessary.
  • Operate and Maintain Equipment: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and other equipment, correcting basic malfunctions.
  • Communicate with Colleagues: Document and communicate technical and general information to appropriate individuals, including hospital personnel, patients, medical staff, and family members.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Experience: Internship as a Medical Laboratory Technician, or equivalent experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Licensure or Certification: Registered or registry eligible for MLT by ASCP, HEW, or AMT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Protocols: Familiarity with clinical laboratory protocols to ensure tests and procedures are accurate.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, recognize abnormal or unusual test results, and determine proper course of action.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and medical staff.
