Unit Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Manager to oversee the Housing Unit operations, Shift Supervisors, and Youth Care Specialists. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety and well-being of the residents, implementing fun-filled activities to enhance their education and emotional health, and supervising assigned personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the housing unit, ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the designated area.
- Supervise assigned personnel, including making and monitoring work assignments, evaluating performance, providing training, and conducting individual and group meetings as needed.
- Assist in developing work schedules, distributing duties among personnel, and arranging for additional personnel as needed to ensure effective operation of all functional areas of the facility during assigned shifts.
- Ensure compliance with state rules and regulations, facility policies and procedures, and security protocols, including conducting security checks and room searches, monitoring electronic door locks and security communication devices, and monitoring residents' actions, activities, and visitations.
- Administer medication and maintain accurate documentation regarding prescription medication to youth.
- Regularly inspect housing units, identifying problems and concerns, and taking corrective action as directed.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college.
- Minimum of three years of experience working with children with serious emotional disturbances or substance abuse problems in a residential setting.
- Prior supervisory experience in a related setting is preferred.
- Working knowledge of and ability to assist in assessing youth regarding chemical dependency, substance abuse, and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
- Skills: Possession of or ability to obtain first aid/CPR; effective verbal and communication skills with co-workers, other stakeholder departments, Probation Officers, caseworkers, law enforcement, and court personnel, juvenile residents, and the public.
