Job Summary

As a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the hospital's ongoing quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and administration of the hospital's Quality Improvement program, ensuring seamless integration with departmental objectives.
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities of a Staff Registered Nurse for patients of all age groups, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • As a Preceptor Nurse, serve as a role model and resource to the nursing staff, collaborating with the manager and Nurse Clinician to design and implement a comprehensive orientation and training program.
  • When serving as Charge Nurse, coordinate daily activities and distribute work effectively, taking into account patient acuity, area staffing needs, and staff qualifications.
  • Oversee care provided by Staff Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, Clinical Associates, and Technicians on assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist in directing unit activities during emergency/disaster situations, such as fires or code blues, and assume area management responsibilities as assigned.
  • Report pertinent information to the on-coming Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Manager concerning shift occurrences and participate in unit Quality Improvement activities.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between staff, patients, physicians, and families, fostering a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in controlling the budget and maintain familiarity with nursing care issues related to medical problems, surgical procedures, and diagnostic studies.
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, immediately reporting any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/visitor/patient injury-accidents to the Manager.
Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in skills applicable to the designated area within the probationary period.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume Charge Nurse responsibilities and clinical expertise in the area.
  • Successful completion of a management course prior to appointment or within six months of employment.
  • Two years of RN experience or one year as a RN and two years as a LPN.
  • Two years of recent experience in the specialty.
  • Certified in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
