Position Overview We are looking for a qualified
Animal Care Technician II to become a part of our
Insourcing Solutions division. In this role, you will be responsible for observing, monitoring, and documenting the health and living conditions of animals within our facilities.

Your duties will include routine and specialized animal care tasks such as cleaning, feeding, and providing water to laboratory animals, as well as performing study-specific husbandry services.

Collaboration with veterinary staff is essential to ensure that the health and welfare of laboratory animals are upheld in accordance with local, state, federal, and institutional regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily health assessments of animals through careful observation. Ensure proper nutrition, hydration, and housing for the animals. Maintain cleanliness of cages and change bedding as necessary. Document any health concerns following established protocols. Safely dispose of waste materials. Assist in the handling and restraint of animals as required. Manage the receipt, inspection, and housing of incoming animals. Oversee cage card management, including accurate record-keeping. Input data into approved software for billing and animal tracking. Perform animal censuses using handheld devices. Monitor and maintain client assignments in animal holding areas. Carry out non-invasive procedures such as weight assessments, monitoring food and water intake, animal identification, and basic sample collection. Provide support for post-surgical care and maintain accurate records. Ensure a clean and organized workspace in all animal research environments.
    Qualifications: The following are minimum requirements for the
    Animal Care Technician II position. A high school diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree in an animal or life sciences field is preferred. A minimum of six to twelve months of relevant laboratory animal experience in a laboratory setting or basic technical skills (such as dosing and tissue collection) is necessary. Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from AALAS is required, while Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification is preferred.
The compensation for this position is
$
