Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Healthcare Systems Analyst is responsible for overseeing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) applications, focusing on continuous support, user training, system maintenance, enhancements, and troubleshooting. This role collaborates with the IT Director to manage hardware installations and ensure the integrity of clinical systems through ongoing updates and improvements. Acts as a key point of contact for clinical system-related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about current activities on the Network.
  • Coordinate installations, enhancements, and training sessions for EMR, Nursing Systems, and other clinical systems.
  • Assist in maintaining dictionaries and master files within both live and test environments of Meditech.
  • Manage and develop custom-defined screens (CDS) within the MIS module to facilitate documentation in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain access within non-MIS modules to fulfill departmental requirements as directed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of the system and report any security concerns to the IS Director.
  • Create and utilize training materials to enhance user knowledge of system functionalities.
  • Provide input on menus and reports relevant to specific systems or modules, adhering to IS Department policies.
  • Assist in the formulation of policies and procedures related to the Patient Care System (PCS) and other ancillary systems.
  • Participate in monthly meetings for designated modules as instructed by the IS Director.
  • Act as a support contact for resolving hospital-specific issues as needed.
  • Manage user accounts within the Meditech system, including adding, editing, and removing users.
  • Represent nursing or hospital information systems on various hospital committees as directed by the IS Director.
  • Serve as the Core Team Leader for Order Entry and Nursing as assigned.
  • Act as a clinical resource for EMR Order entry and nursing module documentation challenges.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance system knowledge and user capabilities.
  • Document system or hardware malfunctions and application issues, following up on recurring problems.
  • Restore network systems to operational status, ensuring proper data flow.
  • Investigate and report significant computer system issues to the IT Director.
  • Perform proper shutdown and reboot procedures for PC-based systems.
  • Utilize system manuals to troubleshoot problems or error messages effectively.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as CMS/JCAH accreditation standards.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving patient satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement Process using the Plan/Do/Check/Act (PDCA) methodology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency codes and preparedness procedures, understanding the role in response to emergencies.
  • Promote a safe environment that minimizes patient safety risks and healthcare errors, reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Adhere to proper body mechanics and seek assistance when necessary for heavy lifting.
  • Follow standard precautions and transmission-based precautions, consistently using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in Meditech software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with physicians, hospital staff, and colleagues.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Healthcare, Healthcare Management, Health Information Management, or Information Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Current and valid RN License in the State of Ohio.
