Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Osseo Area Schools. As a key member of our school nursing team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Job Summary:As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to support the educational progress of all children K-12. Your responsibilities will include administering medication and/or specialized health care treatments to students, monitoring health status, and performing first aid and emergency care as needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer medication and/or specialized health care treatments to students as directed by physicians and authorized by parents or guardians.
- Monitor health status of students and perform first aid, emergency care, and other illness interventions as needed.
- Consult and communicate with the delegating RN/LSN and obtain direction from the RN/LSN regarding questions that fall outside the scope of the LPN practice.
- Follow protocols, procedures, and written care plans to administer medications, nursing care procedures, and episodic care under the delegation and guidance of the RN/LSN.
- Conduct vision and hearing screenings and facilitate referrals to healthcare agencies or facilities as needed.
- Monitor student health and obtain immunization records to prevent and control communicable disease.
- Report annually to the State Department for students K-12 and excuse or re-admit students for health reasons in accordance with district protocols and state and county health department exclusion guidelines.
- Must be a licensed practical nurse currently licensed in the State of Minnesota.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities include basic first aid and health screening, ability to communicate and foster positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff, and ability to teach health information to student groups.
