HEDIS Coder/Abstractor Role:

We're seeking a skilled HEDIS Coder/Abstractor to review medical records, document, and abstract clinical data for HEDIS reporting purposes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Review medical records and accurately document clinical data for HEDIS reporting
  • Extract relevant details and data from clinical documentation, making determinations and applying appropriate medical codes
  • Utilize resources and reference materials to identify correct medical codes and ensure compliance with guidelines
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of medical coding subject areas to assign accurate medical codes
  • Identify unclear or incomplete clinical documentation and generate queries to obtain additional information
  • Follow up with providers as needed when responses to queries are not provided in a timely manner
  • Utilize medical coding software programs and reference materials to ensure accurate code selection
  • Read and interpret medical coding rules and guidelines to make informed decisions
  • Ensure the medical record collection, review, and abstractions are complete and compliant with NCQA HEDIS technical specifications and guidelines


Prior experience in HEDIS and/or quality improvement, medical coding, and relevant certifications is required. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical coding subject areas and be invested in their success.
