Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Technician plays a vital role in the Cardiac Diagnostic Laboratory, assisting in the performance of diagnostic tests on adult and pediatric patients. This includes conducting treadmill stress tests, Holter/event monitoring, cardiopulmonary stress testing, and electrocardiograms. The successful candidate will possess excellent knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, as well as the ability to recognize cardiac dysrhythmia and initiate emergency resuscitation measures as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in performing diagnostic tests in the Cardiac Diagnostic Laboratory
  • Conduct treadmill stress tests, Holter/event monitoring, and cardiopulmonary stress testing
  • Perform electrocardiograms and recognize cardiac dysrhythmia
  • Initiate emergency resuscitation measures as needed
  • Provide care in the cardiac diagnostic laboratory to ensure highest quality test results
  • Work closely with cardiologists, cardiology fellows, residents, nurses, and students to guarantee optimal stress test quality
  • Transcribe results and prepare records for physician interpretation
  • Perform scheduling, patient charges, supply ordering, stocking, and report generation and retrieval as required
  • Record treatment and diagnostic information for the medical record
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate of Science Degree from a two-year program preferred
  • Minimum one year of stress testing experience in either adult or pediatric preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations and interpret data
  • Ability to recognize cardiac dysrhythmia and initiate emergency resuscitation measures
  • Ability to work calmly and respond courteously under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone
Licensures and Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
