Department Overview

The Transplant/Urology/Plastics (4A) unit is a specialized acute care environment focusing on solid organ transplants (kidney, pancreas, and liver), intricate plastic surgery reconstructions, urology, and nephrology conditions and treatments. Our patient demographic includes individuals from young adults to seniors. Nurses in this unit provide care for patients recovering from kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants, as well as complex plastic surgeries. They possess specialized expertise in managing patients with urological and nephrological conditions and administering continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). We adopt a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, collaborating with the entire healthcare team during daily rounds and weekly transplant team meetings. Education for patients and their families is paramount, aimed at enhancing quality care. Through engaging teaching methods, our nurses facilitate lifestyle changes and support smooth transitions from hospital to home.

Function/Duties of Position

$8,000 Hiring Bonus available for candidates with a minimum of one year of acute care hospital registered nurse experience.

Relocation assistance and free night parking are provided.

Compensation ranges from $52.11 to $86.81 per hour, depending on RN qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

Minimum requirements for all Nurses:

  • BSN Graduates: Must possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • ADN Graduates: Must have an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
    • Associate degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within three years of hire and complete it within five years.
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License.
  • BLS certification at the time of hire, issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • BLS certification must remain valid throughout orientation.
  • Ability to perform job duties with or without accommodation.

Department Specific Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of current nursing experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internal applicants: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Experience with CAPD.
  • Competencies in transplant nursing.
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in both oral and written English.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to send/receive emails and navigate electronic health records.
Additional Details

Length of Orientation:

  • Experienced Nurses (Fellowship or Specialty Fellowship) with over one year of experience will undergo either a Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Learning Pathway or an individualized orientation lasting between 2-12 weeks.
