About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Fire Services as a Student Development Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the recruitment and hiring process for our student opportunities, building a pipeline of future talent by recruiting and selecting candidates for our Student Development programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate talent and develop innovative programming to enhance the student experience.
  • Manage the hiring process for various student opportunities, including evaluating applications, interviewing candidates, and coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Support interns' overall experience, including devising intern activities and conducting check-in meetings.
  • Aid in the planning of student conferences and events, including the annual Fire Services Student Network Summer Conference.
  • Maintain and build external stakeholder relationships, including event vendor relationships.
  • Provide support to Fire Services alumni through newsletters, individual communications, and social media.
  • Create new opportunities for students to experience the day-to-day life of working at a national nonprofit organization like Fire Services.

  • A good work ethic and ability to independently evaluate student applicants.
  • Strong networking skills and ability to foster personal relationships with students.
  • A strong, clear vision for executing the duties of the position and a willingness to assume a leadership role when executing projects.
  • Creative thinking skills and ability to explore new platforms and models for reaching key audiences.
  • Accountability and ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Exceptional writing and copy editing skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, time constraints, and deadlines.
