The CNC Machining Specialist is tasked with the setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, or laser cutters to fabricate components that adhere to customer and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:


Analyze blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample components to ascertain dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Conduct machine setup, including the selection, alignment, and securing of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.

Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.

Initiate and monitor machine operation to identify malfunctions or deviations from specifications.

Modify machine controls or control media, as necessary, to rectify any discrepancies.

Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers and CMM programs to assess the accuracy of work.

Verify the first piece machined for dimensions and tolerances before continuing with the remainder of the order.

Collaborate with engineers, production staff, quality assurance, or others to resolve machining or assembly challenges.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs.


Qualifications:

High School Diploma, GED, or proven capability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level.

1-3 years of experience or formal training in the setup and operation of CNC machines.

Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and routings.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


Working Conditions:

Typical shop floor environment with potential exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, oil, and water.


Preferred Qualifications:

Technical Certification or Associate's degree in CNC machining.

Experience operating and programming a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

Knowledge of metallurgical properties or related coursework.

5+ years of experience in the setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, and/or laser cutting machines.
