Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in a skilled nursing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating a plan of care, providing nursing care according to physician orders, and updating the plan of care as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with formulating a plan of care for residents in the skilled nursing area.
  • Provide nursing care to residents according to physician orders and regulations.
  • Update the plan of care when necessary.
  • Observe and document resident observations and care given.
  • Use the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately.
  • Notify physicians of changes in resident condition and process orders.
  • Respond promptly to resident call lights.
  • Direct and assist with resident, family, and significant other education.
  • Notify family members of changes in resident condition.
  • Handle linens properly and dispose of soiled linens, clothing, or supplies in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Use standard precautions by using personal protective equipment and observing transmission guidelines.
  • Wash hands between resident cares.
  • Report and follow up on signs and symptoms of resident infections.
Basic Responsibilities

This position will be held accountable for complying with all related laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures pertaining to the position and for fulfilling obligations under the organization's corporate compliance program.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prior work experience in a like or related position may be helpful.
Licensure and Certification

Licensure for the state of practice is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.

Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate will possess knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered. The candidate will also be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
