The COMET contract oversees the comprehensive management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at a prominent space center. Operations Technicians engage in mechanical, electrical, and other technical tasks to support spaceflight systems and ground support equipment for various NASA programs.

Flexible Work Arrangements:
We appreciate your time and dedication. At our facility, we provide options for partial telework and flexible schedules for many roles. The availability of these options will depend on departmental requirements.
As an Operational Technician, you will assist in Launch Vehicle Processing, Testing, and Validation of flight hardware and associated ground systems. You will interpret engineering drawings and adhere to strict safety protocols; passing a physical examination and maintaining a security clearance is essential. Shift work, weekends, and reasonable overtime may be required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, along with one year of relevant experience or equivalent technical training.
This position may also be available at a higher level, and candidates will be evaluated based on their qualifications and experience.
Must be able to work all shifts and a reasonable amount of overtime with limited prior notification.
Excellent communication skills are required.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Willingness to support various shifts and locations as directed.
Experience with mechanical, electrical, or high-energy systems is desirable. Background in aviation or aerospace is advantageous. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Handling and transportation of hazardous materials (if qualified).
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Capability to distinguish between colors (e.g., blue and green wires).
- Compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Ability to use limbs with 90% range.
- Use of safety protective equipment where necessary.
- Climbing ladders, towers, and stairs.
- Physical exertion in various tasks in confined spaces.
Work Environment:
- All tasks must be performed safely in accordance with safety standards.
- Work will primarily be conducted indoors, with some fieldwork requiring both indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Working at heights and in confined spaces may be necessary.
- Engagement with equipment and stations in support of launches.
Equipment and Machines:
- Operate and maintain handling equipment such as forklifts and other material handling devices.
- Utilize computer terminals and related equipment to maintain records and documentation.
Attendance:
- Standard work assignments are typically 8-hour shifts, 5 consecutive days per week.
- Dependability and punctuality are essential.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
Other Essential Functions:
- US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain necessary certifications for operating material handling equipment.
- Effective interaction with colleagues and supervisors is crucial.
- Clear communication of ideas in both written and verbal forms is necessary.
- Future government security clearance may be required.
- Must pass a federal background investigation.
- Professional grooming and attire are expected.
- Compliance with all drug-free workplace policies is mandatory.
- Must pass all relevant physical examinations.
- A valid Florida Class D motor vehicle license is required.
