Overview:
The Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead is tasked with managing the upkeep and repair functions of the organization's vehicle fleet. This position ensures that all maintenance work is performed effectively, adheres to budget constraints, and meets stringent safety regulations.
This role includes supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating repair schedules, and implementing strategies to reduce costs. The lead will ensure that all regulatory standards are met and that documentation is maintained accurately.Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily maintenance operations and ensure safety compliance among team members within fleet maintenance, while managing budgetary adherence.
- Assist in organizing work schedules and coordinate necessary repairs with other departments.
- Support fleet maintenance activities, including expense tracking and initiatives for operational efficiency.
- Conduct daily audits of documentation for accuracy, including work orders and preventive maintenance records.
- Manage the fleet services budget, monitoring expenses related to parts and supplies.
- Stay updated on technical advancements and maintain relevant technical manuals.
- Enforce company policies and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Facilitate training and development opportunities for maintenance staff.
- Participate in the on-call program for emergency situations.
- Log maintenance activities into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ensure maintenance areas are kept clean.
- Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and organized condition.
- Respond to emergencies, prioritizing the safety of personnel and facilities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
A High School diploma or GED is required. Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training (2 years) is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in fleet maintenance and repair, with 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in a similar environment.
Licenses:
A valid state Driver's License with a clean driving record is required. Class A CDL and completion of a defensive driving program are preferred.
Certifications:
ASE Certification and Mobile Air Conditioning (EPA 609) Certification are preferred. Annual Inspector Certification and Brake Inspector Certification are desired.
Skills:
Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and braking systems is essential. Proficiency in using all necessary tools for maintenance and diagnostics is required. Candidates must provide their own hand tools.
