Overview:
The Environmental Services Associate plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents and staff. This position involves the thorough cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, and various non-clinical areas such as restrooms, offices, and communal spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in designated areas, adhering to established cleaning protocols.
- Take ownership of assigned sections, performing comprehensive cleaning of all rooms and adjacent spaces.
- Conduct thorough cleaning of public and resident restrooms following standard procedures.
- Prepare discharge units promptly for incoming admissions.
- Remove and clean privacy curtains as necessary.
- Report any observations regarding environmental conditions or equipment issues to the Maintenance Director.
- Utilize wet floor signage to maintain safety during cleaning activities.
- Respond positively to housekeeping requests, maintaining a friendly demeanor.
- Notify nursing staff of any resident needs instead of providing direct assistance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance operational efficiency and foster a positive work atmosphere.
- Restock supplies and recheck rooms before the end of each shift.
- Distribute clean linens according to established guidelines.
- Clean and store all equipment, preparing for the next shift.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in work areas.
- Follow safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals.
- Participate in required annual training and maintain personal education records.
- Be available for on-call shifts during weekends and holidays if requested.
- Understand and apply procedures for cleaning biohazard spills as per facility guidelines.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) is required.
- May require working beyond regular hours.
- Ability to reach for items and perform physical tasks.
- Must be able to lift, move, and load weights between 30 to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking are expected.
