The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) delivers anesthesia care at Virginia Commonwealth University Health for patients across all age demographics.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess:
- A valid RN license in Virginia
- A current CRNA license to practice in Virginia
- Certification from the National Board on Certification/Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
Ongoing Employment Requirements:
To maintain employment, the following must be upheld:
- A valid RN license in Virginia
- A current CRNA license in Virginia
- Completion of 40 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two years
- Credentialing as per medical staff by-laws for the designated role
Experience Requirements:
- Mandatory: No prior experience is required.
- Preferred: Experience in an academic healthcare setting and at least one year in the specialty practice area.
Educational Background:
- Mandatory: A Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, specifically in the area of practice. Candidates with advanced practice licensure must be within one semester of completing their MSN or higher, which must be finalized within six months of hire to retain employment.
- Preferred: Not applicable.
Independent Responsibilities:
The CRNA must demonstrate knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as The Joint Commission (TJC) standards relevant to the primary responsibilities of the position. Compliance with VCUHS policies and customer service philosophy is essential.
Supervisory Duties:
Not applicable.
Additional Requirements:
Availability to work all shifts is necessary.

Physical Demands:
Includes the ability to lift and utilize assistance devices as necessary.

Cognitive Requirements:
