Under the supervision of the Therapy Services Manager, the Physical Therapist is responsible for designing and executing personalized rehabilitation programs aimed at enhancing patient mobility and independence within their physical capabilities. This role involves providing therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Qualifications- Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist in Illinois.
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent certification in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution, ensuring a solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and treatment methodologies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and hospital staff.
- Analytical skills to assess patient progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Proficiency in operating physical therapy equipment.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' functional abilities, including assessments of range of motion and muscle strength, to establish baseline measurements for treatment.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations, outlining specific goals and therapeutic modalities to facilitate recovery and pain reduction.
- Administer various therapeutic techniques, including exercise regimens, manual therapy, and modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation.
- Oversee the work of physical therapist assistants, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols and reviewing patient progress.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss treatment strategies and patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and activities of daily living.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and transportation needs, while documenting treatment on billing records.
- Provide educational sessions on physical therapy practices to hospital staff and community members.
- Stay updated on advancements in physical therapy to enhance treatment effectiveness.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Adhere to established standards of conduct and productivity metrics.
- Perform additional duties as required.
