Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers in a fast-paced medical office environment. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for exams and acquire vital signs, weight, general history, and current medication lists as required.
  • Provide patient care and clinical support to providers during exams, including acupuncture needle removal, application of stimulators, needle counts, venipunctures, injections, and EKGs.
  • Document all clinical findings and patient responses to interventions, including history, medications, vital signs, weight, and testing results.
  • Collect and provide completed laboratory/test findings intake forms and physician referral information, diagnostic imaging, or cardiopulmonary test results as they become available.
  • Provide instruction to patients under the direction of the provider.
  • Assist with patient registration, scheduling, billing, and pre-certification processes.
  • Resolve routine patient problems and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate schedule updates, cancellations, changes, and delays to appropriate staff, patients, family members, and visitors.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited medical assisting school preferred.
  • Successful completion of registration/certification exam required.
  • 3 years of related experience in a medical office setting, including customer service, receptionist, registration, scheduling, filing, telephone etiquette, patient billing, and computer skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records software, such as EPIC, preferred.
